The fifth volume in the Council's
Cooperative Cook's Collection cookbook is now available. This edition is titled "Breakfast
breads & beverages". These
recipes include delicious breakfast and brunch ideas.
140 recipes were submitted by cooperative members. The
book presents itself as a very nice gift for any occasion. It is
available for $10 each plus $3 shipping and handling.
We also have a limited quantity of "sensational sweets" and "savory soups
and salads" and "everyday entertaining" cook books available for $5.00 each; all "enticing entrees"
have been sold. The 2009 Cooperative Youth Leadership Conference will again
be held at White Lake at the FFA Center, June 22-26. The camp provides a great
opportunity for cooperative members to send youth ages 15-18 to learn how
cooperatives work and to consider a future working in cooperatives across the
state.
The 2009 National Institute on Cooperative
Education (NICE) will be held on the campus of University Tennessee in Knoxville July 25-29,
2009. In addition to hosting youth scholars from 12-15 additional
states, the 2009 NICE will be a unique opportunity for North Carolina Cooperatives to
choose participants to attend.
A two-day Cooperative Leadership Conference is designed to acquaint
young adults with the structure and
services of cooperatives as a way of doing business and meeting members' needs.
This is joint conference with Georgia and South Carolina. Young adults
who are interested in attending this conference should contact their
local cooperative.
