RALEIGH, NC – Travis and Tracie Hubers of Plymouth, NC, have been selected as the Cooperative Council of North Carolina’s Outstanding Couple of the Year for 2014 - 2015. They were selected at the annual Cooperative Leadership Conference in August at The Ridges Resort in Hiawassee, Georgia.
The conference, hosted by North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia Cooperative Councils, has been bringing couples together to learn about the cooperative way of business for nearly three decades. Sessions were led by a knowledgeable and impressive faculty of cooperative leaders discussing the importance of cooperatives as they pertain to each state and the individuals’ role in the future leadership of their organizations. Couples attending also enjoy networking with new people, and are able to enjoy free time to relax and enjoy the mountains and surrounding area.
The Hubers, sponsored by TriCounty Telecom, live in Plymouth where Travis is a Safety Specialist at PCS and Tracie is a teacher. The couple is devoted to their cooperative memberships and heavily supports their local community. They are members of TriCounty Telecom and Tideland EMC. Travis and Tracie will attend the 2015 Cooperative Leadership Conference to help lead activities and host the new group of participating couples.
Jennie Gentry, President of the Cooperative Council, believes the couples attending the conference gain a new appreciation for cooperatives and a fresh understanding of their function and impact on the lives of people in rural North Carolina.
